My Design Journey

I studied industrial design at the Department of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. Those years shaped not only my approach to form and function but also awakened a curiosity in me — a desire to explore materials beyond their conventional use, and to look for new possibilities where others might see limits.

Early in my career, I had the chance to work with international companies, engage in individual projects, and exhibit my work in some of Europe's most respected design events — Batimat in Paris, Light in Architecture in Prague, and Salone del Mobile in Milan. These experiences broadened my perspective, connected me with inspiring creators from around the world, and deepened my understanding of design as a universal language.

Over time, I found myself drawn to materials that challenged me — ones that required both technical skill and creative intuition. One of these was HIMACS, an acrylic stone material that opened up a whole new world of design possibilities. I became fascinated by its ability to transform under heat and pressure, its seamlessness, and how it could be shaped into almost anything I could imagine. I began incorporating HIMACS into various projects, especially where atypical forms or monolithic structures were required. It became a trusted part of my design vocabulary.

But it was glass that truly won my heart.

Working with glass introduced me to a delicate balance of strength and fragility, clarity and distortion. I delved into the process of printing on glass with ceramic paint — a technology that allows for high durability while offering complete creative freedom. Through clouding techniques and custom graphics, I began to experiment with how glass could capture light, reflect mood, and become not just a surface, but a story within a space. It became a medium through which I could express both structure and atmosphere — merging architecture with emotion.

Along this path, I also encountered other remarkable materials: large-format ceramics, technical stone, and natural stone. Each brought its own set of challenges and opportunities, and working closely with production deepened my respect for craftsmanship and precision. Being hands-on with materials — from initial concept to final execution — allowed me to gain a more holistic understanding of the entire process. This direct involvement gave me the tools not just to design, but to implement and lead.

Today, I specialize in the design, presentation, and application of premium large-format materials — for my own projects as well as in collaboration with architects, designers, and studios. Whether working with glass, stone, or ceramic, I aim to bring together aesthetic innovation, technical excellence, and a deep respect for materiality.

For me, design is more than creating objects or spaces. It's about discovering relationships — between material and light, between user and form, between concept and craft. And it's in this intersection that I continue to find new inspiration, new challenges, and new stories to tell.
